1st Transmutation | [video] Introductions

[Al had taken some time fumbling around with the Gear once he got out of that odd town, testing the buttons and managing to reason his way into making a video post--though he doesn't realize that it is transmitting video yet. Alphonse comes onto the screen sitting at the base of a tree, and actually seems relatively calm about all this. It isn't the first time he's been tossed into a strange new world, though at least the last time he'd meant to go there. Anyone that knows him might notice he seems a bit...young, though.]

Okay, I think it's recording...um, hello! I just got here, and I've read that little book, so I know what we're supposed to be here for, but...does anyone have any information as to how we were transported here? The only method I know to move between worlds like this doesn't...really seem to apply here.

[It looks like he would continue, but his Shinx takes that moment to pounce into his lap and headbutt under his chin--gently, though, and clearly just wanting attention.] Ah, jeez! It's barely been five minutes, can't I pay attention to something else for that long? --um, sorry, my Pokémon is being kind of needy...are they always like this? I know we're supposed to battle them, but this little guy is so much like a little kitten I can't see him fighting anything except his own tail! [And really, he's kind of offended by that concept in general. It's so cruel!!] Um, anyway, if anyone has any information I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

What do you mean, a third?

The mechanics of this other world are entirely different from ours. Homunculi aren't the same, alchemy itself is different.

[I look like a giant gorilla-man.]

[Al nods and smiles--no suspicions over here!] Oh, that's so cool! But are you gonna be able to afford that? Houses are kind of expensive, aren't they?

We're perfectly fine as far as money's concerned. We both have much more than we need. And we'd like somewhere for our Pokemon to live.

Mammon will be much happier when he has a saltwater pool to live in, I'm sure.

There's a world across the Gate, that's like a mirror of ours but without alchemy. People have similar names and faces there, but the history diverged years and years ago so everything is really different. Brother was trapped there after he fixed my body as payment.

Alchemy itself is different? How? That's like...a fundamental part of everything!

[Hey man, at least you didn't get your soul taken over by a creepy not!cousin.]

Well, you're in luck because me and the dummy will fly to you instead of you having to chase him around. [It's been forever since they've both been here. She just... really wishes they'll stay... this time.

. . . Oh. Ohhhhhhh. There's the first time for everything, right? Right now there's the first time for seeing Al from that other version of Amestris.

Winry stays quiet for a moment.]

Al, please don't think I'm insane, but -- that's -- [LONG PAUSE HERE.] I don't even know how to explain this, but there's another Amestris, where they have another so called master, who calls himself Father. But he isn't their real father, I don't think. Ed can explain it all to you. Or Greed, I think Ed explained everything to Greed. Or they can both tell stuff to you, I don't know. [She sure can't tell much!!]

...Me and Ed are from there, but there are some from the Amestris, where Dante exists.

Slow down. What is the Gate?

[BUT THE MULLET, AL. THE MULLET.]

Mammon? What Pokémon is that? [Obviously whatever it is, it's a Water-type...he thinks? It would have to be to live in the ocean, right? ~~Man, but the fauna is weird in this world.~~]

Now my guest list is two teenage boys. I really need more friends...

Mammon's a sharpedo. There was a terrible storm that flung them everywhere. Greed caught one for us each, right in the middle of the storm.

...I should probably mention that I'm buying a home with Greed.

Fly out to me? Winry, just what sort of contraption did you build?!

[Al is quiet for a long moment, thinking it all over. Winry wouldn't lie to him, he knows that, and if that's what Brother said...he wouldn't have a reason to lie about that either. And besides, it's not like the idea of other worlds is foreign to him. He just...didn't expect one to be so similar and different at the same time, not like that.]

...I believe you, Winry. But I guess this means we have a lot more to catch up on, then! [He smiles at her--she's still his sister, no matter what world she's from. He just hopes Ed won't reject him for not being his.]

Oh, you don't know? It's...sort of the regulator of alchemy, and holds pretty much all the knowledge in the universe. It governs over Equivalent Exchange, and it's what takes the payment for human transmutation. ...and it's really, really creepy.

[CREEPY TENTACLE CHILD ALL UP IN HIS ARMOR.]

[Al laughs at first, but then boggles a bit.] Flung them around? Just how strong was that storm?! That's not a common thing, is it?

Greed? [He's confused, but after a moment shrugs.] Well, I guess with Dante gone you don't have to be enemies anymore, huh?

[With the 'D' word dropped, it's time to take this to a private channel.]

Frighteningly strong. I've never seen anything like it. But no, it's not common. And worse for us as we were on the coast when it hit.

We were never personal enemies. We actually have a great deal in common and get on very well. We spent time together before we decided to travel.

Is she? Gone? Dead?

The hell...

[This is not helping his firmly rooted belief that alchemy is evil, Alphonse. Because right now you're saying that his brother's dick is floating around in some all-knowing door.]

Then... On the other side of this Gate, there exists an entirely different world with a varied history but shared faces?

[...Okay, fine.]

Huh? ... [Let her be puzzled for a little moment here.] Ah, no no. [flailing her hands a bit.] I didn't build anything, I trained many Pokemon, who can fly us anywhere.

[She lets him think about everything, that she just said. There's no rush, it is a lot to take in and Winry's been in the same kind of situation too.

When Al finally speaks and smiles, Winry smiles at him too.]

Mmhmm, but there's nothing but time to catch up here! I'm really glad you're here, and Ed will probably rush out of the door to get to you as soon as he sees this... [Winry on the other hand? She's packing while she speaks.]

[AL NEVER SAID THE GATE WASN'T A GIANT BAG OF--...okay, poor phrasing.]

Yeah. There's more to it than that, but that's the simplest way to explain it. Even I don't know all the details of why or how, just that it...is.

[Ed didn't see this coming since he wasn't in the same room as Winry, so he's surprised to see Al like everyone else. Normally he would have called him right away due to sheer excitement, but...

Somehow Alphonse looked different. And what was this about moving between worlds?]

Al...?

Oh! They get big enough to carry you in flight? That's amazing! [It really is, and now Al's looking down at his Shinx with a curious look--just what is this little guy gonna turn into?]

[Winry's assurance helps a little, but given that Al was about ten times dumber in his world about The Barry Incident, Al's probably gonna keep worrying until Ed's spoken with Al himself.] Hehe, when isn't Brother rushing off at top speed to do anything? --he hasn't broken his automail recently, has he? [Winry, please tell Al he hasn't been his usual dumb self, he doesn't want to clean up several months worth of messes.]

[NOT FUNNY.]

All right.

[As curious as he is about all of this, there are more pressing matters, currently.]

You're in New Bark Town, I'm assuming?

[Hey, it's not like Al knows how to lock these conversations yet!]

Okay. If this place had bad weather like that constantly, I'm not sure I'd want to be camping out int he open. [Since there's no decent train system around here, what the heck. Doesn't anyone know how to public transit?] But you were safe during the storm, right?

That's good to hear. I like him a lot too, even if he...well, kidnapped me. [Ladies and gentlemen, Alphonse Elric.]

Yeah, she is. I didn't see it myself, but I haven't seen any evidence of her around since Brother restored me. [He has his suspicions of what happened, but...well, he's gonna keep that to himself. He remembers Lust actually liking Gluttony.]

[Not quite right or not, Al's happiness at seeing Ed is certainly what it should be. By this point, he's heard enough from people to know that there's some weird thing going on with the Amestrises (Amestrisi?), but who cares IT'S ED BROTHER BROTHER BROTHER!]

Oh gosh, I'm so glad you're here! Where are you at, I'll head over right now!

[Al's Shinx growls and bats at the Gear, getting just a mite bit jealous over that. Excuse you, his trainer should only be that happy about HIM, thank you very much!]

No, only sometimes. It's safe to camp, Greed and I are doing it currently while we're between cities.

He's a good man. We understand each other. And I like the way he lives.

A little ways out of town, but yeah. Where are you? [Oh man, Al has so many people he needs to meet up with. He has a feeling he'll be running around for a while.]

I'm on the road from Olivine City. I... can come to meet with you, if you would like.

Some of them are, yes, many dragons and birds for example. [She's raised a Shinx or two too, so she could tell what they become...]

Oh geez, so he's the same idiot everywhere. [That's still a nice way of talking about your boyfriend, Winry.] It's good that there's us two to stop him from doing that now, I'm not sure if his head can take much more stopping from just me. [She's kidding, but also kind of half-serious - except Ed's head is made of ~~fullmetal~~ steel maybe.] Actually, it might be a new record, he hasn't broken it and it's been safe from metal eating Pokemon too, so ... I guess I'd be too optimistic if I was going to say that I'm not expecting something to happen to it sooner or later. But so far he hasn't dared to break it here.

[... it helps that he only has the leg now, but she'll let Ed tell that to Al himself.]

Has anyone managed to fill you in? If so, then I have some questions for you, if you don't mind - my apologies if that's rude, but you said something interesting just now and I have to admit that I'm curious.
