[Al had taken some time fumbling around with the Gear once he got out of that odd town, testing the buttons and managing to reason his way into making a video post--though he doesn't realize that it is transmitting video yet. Alphonse comes onto the screen sitting at the base of a tree, and actually seems relatively calm about all this. It isn't the first time he's been tossed into a strange new world, though at least the last time he'd meant to go there. Anyone that knows him might notice he seems a bit...young, though.]

Okay, I think it's recording...um, hello! I just got here, and I've read that little book, so I know what we're supposed to be here for, but...does anyone have any information as to how we were transported here? The only method I know to move between worlds like this doesn't...really seem to apply here.

[It looks like he would continue, but his Shinx takes that moment to pounce into his lap and headbutt under his chin--gently, though, and clearly just wanting attention.] Ah, jeez! It's barely been five minutes, can't I pay attention to something else for that long? --um, sorry, my Pokémon is being kind of needy...are they always like this? I know we're supposed to battle them, but this little guy is so much like a little kitten I can't see him fighting anything except his own tail! [And really, he's kind of offended by that concept in general. It's so cruel!!] Um, anyway, if anyone has any information I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

I have family here that isn't blood. But I'll never be able to understand a blood family. It's just not something that's possible.

...I suppose. I don't think it should make a difference if you're related or not, but I know it does to some people. And it does make for a different relationship in some ways.

I'd like to come along next time you go, if we're in the same area. It sounds like a lot of fun, except for the sunburn part.

[Which is perfectly fair, really, and he doesn't expect to get much of value in the first place; at the same time, he's rather aware that his name showing up tends to garner...mixed results, and he's fairly sure this isn't the Alphonse Elric whose reaction he can predict right off.]

You mentioned your world having some way of moving between worlds...? I've heard of a few methods to do that sort of thing here; you could say it's an interest of mine.

[Envy's shouting so loudly it could almost be called a roar.]

[Envy wasn't thinking of Dante when he said that, before. He's very much in danger of just throwing his 'Gear against the wall and breaking it, but instead he's going to very angrily hang up. If only there was a receiver to slam it on.]

...yeah, among other animals and ... others, who haven't been human before coming here. Sorry, it's all confusing at first, then you kind of just get used to the fact that things can be very random and weird here.

It's not exactly something that's reliable, or that most people are even aware of. I only know about it because Brother and I sort of stumbled through to the other side. The cost to open the way is paid in lives, so it's not something to be done lightly, either.

Well, it's not like we have much of a choice unless we wanna keep freaking out at things, right? I'll cope, it's just...a lot to keep in mind right now.

Where do you want to meet up? I'd like to go say hello to Scar; he said he's in Olivine. [Nope, no idea he just opened a can of worms right there.]

[Al bites his lip, looking down before continuing.] I...thank you. For saving me.

[Scar's eyes widen, ever so slightly. Yes, he's been thanked in this life. But to hear it from somebody from his previous...]

[His tone makes it clear that he doesn't mean to dismiss Al. It simply isn't something worth thanks.]

[Al's expression falls a little. He knows what Scar means, but he can't agree with it. He never could.]

How could I not?

...different how? [Greed that is not reassuring right now]

Great!

[He huffs out a sigh and pouts.] Okay, if you really don't want me to, I'll stop.

That's an understatement. Yes and no? It only leads to the one world attached to my own, but where in that world you wind up seems to be somewhat random. The only two places I know people have wound up were on the same continent, at least, but still in entirely different countries.

He remembers a different set of events than us.

He doesn't... doesn't remember killing me. [It's said in a strained way. He thought he would be fine knowing what happened to him, he'd accepted his fate as someone who needed to die to teach Edward what to do, but...] For him, it was your country's leader who attacked my bar.

You're right. And don't worry, I remember it being a lot to keep in mind at first... It takes time, but it will be okay.

Well, we're in Pewter right now, so the ferry would be the shorte--

Why? Why would Al like to go say hello to Scar? Nope, she doesn't get it. At all. ]

OKAY, QUICK, THINK OF A PLAN B THEN. She's totally going to cover up that freezing by starting to ramble like she's not nervous at all or like that really isn't a can of worms at all!! See, no problem with the sudden mention of the name Scar here, not at all!]

Ummm... In that case, let's forget the ferry! We can come to Goldenrod, it's the biggest city in Johto. It's a long way from there to Olivine and New Bark, but if you walk to Cherrygrove while we're on the way there to meet up with you, it would make things faster.

[Al frowns in concern when Winry pauses like that, and the quick babbling only confirms that...well, there's something going on at least.] Sure, I can do that, but...Winry, did something happen with Scar?

[Ah. So that's how it was. It wasn't the Al he knew and grew up with. Their pasts would differ... and that's why he looked so different.

But. The fact remained that this was Alphonse Elric. Ed would accept him as his brother, because damn, Al is always his brother, no matter what.]

Of course not! I will have to inquire about everything from your side, that's all! You're still my only brother.

[Ed's easy acceptance brings a wide, relieved smile to Al's face, and he laughs in response.] Of course! And I've gotta keep an eye on you--you haven't been causing any trouble here on your own, have you?
