1st Transmutation | [video] Introductions

[Al had taken some time fumbling around with the Gear once he got out of that odd town, testing the buttons and managing to reason his way into making a video post--though he doesn't realize that it is transmitting video yet. Alphonse comes onto the screen sitting at the base of a tree, and actually seems relatively calm about all this. It isn't the first time he's been tossed into a strange new world, though at least the last time he'd meant to go there. Anyone that knows him might notice he seems a bit...young, though.]

Okay, I think it's recording...um, hello! I just got here, and I've read that little book, so I know what we're supposed to be here for, but...does anyone have any information as to how we were transported here? The only method I know to move between worlds like this doesn't...really seem to apply here.

[It looks like he would continue, but his Shinx takes that moment to pounce into his lap and headbutt under his chin--gently, though, and clearly just wanting attention.] Ah, jeez! It's barely been five minutes, can't I pay attention to something else for that long? --um, sorry, my Pokémon is being kind of needy...are they always like this? I know we're supposed to battle them, but this little guy is so much like a little kitten I can't see him fighting anything except his own tail! [And really, he's kind of offended by that concept in general. It's so cruel!!] Um, anyway, if anyone has any information I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

[ ... he looks different, but... he ... is.... ...]

[Sorry, she's too surprised to see you again to say more than that for now.]

[It takes Al a minute or so to switch over to text before he replies. He's not sure why someone would respond with text to a voice call, but...]

My name is Alphonse.

Gah!

[Sorry Winry, but Al is just a bit started by your face suddenly appearing on the screen! When he startles he fumbles and drops the Gear, and his Shinx yelps as well, running around while Al scrambles to pick it back up.]

Wha--Winry?! You're here?

[It's several moments before there's another response. Scar switches the 'Gear to a private video. Even if he weren't hiding his identity, he didn't want anyone else to see.]

Alphonse Elric?

[There's Scar, alive and... as well as he could be, right now. His face is an emotional mix. Shock. Relief. Some biting sadness that he can't really place. It's even obvious in quiver in his voice.

He hadn't even known if the boy had survived. Hadn't had the courage to ask. He isn't even considering the possibility that this could be the Alphonse of the other world. Not yet.]

[Oooops, sorry, Al. Maybe she should have let her Audino give you some hints first...

Never mind that because yes, hello there Alphonse. Of course he is Al. Winry just... they always appear when she least expects them to, huh?]

Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit's a really long story, but yes, we're here too! You're in New Bark, right? Of course you are. [No one wants to see Ed and Winry rage if Al started in Goldenrod...] -- should get somewhere near there as soon as possible to get you.

[Al swallows, his face pale as he stares at the screen in disbelief. Seeing his face feels like a sucker punch to the gut. He's not some alternate copy, not like the one that had been traveling with the Roma, but the real Scar from home. That scar across his face, the hair, the eyes...it all matched, and yet...]

[It was impossible. Scar had died, he'd died to make the Stone and save Al's life! There was no way he'd survived Liore, there had been nothing left! And yet here he was, on this tiny little screen...somehow. Figuring out just what was up with the tiny moving picture could come later.]

...Scar? Is...is that you?

Um, I'm just out of town, but yeah... [Give him a moment, Winry, he kind of didn't expect to ever see you again in his lifetime, w h o o p s.] Wait, we? Is Sheska with you? How long have you been here?

Which way are you going? There's the ferry and then there's the route to the next town. [Sorry Al, better start getting prepared to being spoiled by Winry then.] Miss Sheska? Why would miss Sheska be with me...?

[WHAT POINT OF HER TIMELINE ARE YOU FROM, AL? No, she's not considering the other timeline option just yet, you've never been from there.]

N-not that I'd mind her company, and I think she was here once before while I wasn't here...

[Winry swallows. It's always weird to explain how things can work here.] Two years and a few days short of three months. Almost a half year more than that, if we counted my earlier stay here too.

I was heading to the next town right now. Which way are you? [Because clearly he's going to be changing directions to get to her if he has to. I mean, that's just obvious.]

But you two were in Central together before I... [Before he sent everything to hell, and he swallows and quickly changes the subject.] N-nevermind. But then who are you traveling--

[WAIT WHAT THE SHIT?!] --Two YEARS?! B-but I just saw you a month ago, how could you have been--Winry, just what's going on here?!

[Why would she be in Central with Sheska, or when has she been there with her before Al... something? You know what, she can leave these details for a bit later. She'll just smile cheerfully to him now!] I think you'll find out soon enough on your own.

Yeah, two years. It really isn't so bad, this world is quite nice.

[Especially WHEN ED AND AL ARE AROUND, then again they haven't been around for most months of those two years... BUT THEY'RE HERE NOW!!]

... It's a really weird place, that can mix up with time however it wants. Even if you had seen me just about five minutes ago, I could have been here for five years or more, it just works that way here.

[Hold on here, just a moment. That's the last person he expected to hear from here.]

Al...phonse?

Alphonse is that you?

[Is it the one from his world or the other one? He looks rather young, so maybe, just maybe...?]

[Again with the dead people! Al stares at the screen dumbfounded, barely even able to process that it's Greed on the screen. This is even more confusing than Scar--at least he was a human! How in the world can a homunculus come back from the dead?!]

I...yes? Greed, how are--how are you here?

[If he finds out this is some weird afterlife he is probably going to scream.]

[And he's going to go ahead and lock right right now, thanks. No need for anyone to listen in on this.]

I'll explain in a minute, but first, I need you to answer something for me.

Does the name "Dante" mean anything to you?

[Al just...slumps back against the tree trunk, processing all that. In the background Shinx can be heard growling, and from the way Al's shirt is moving he must be tugging on Al's sleeve for attention.] This...this is crazy. Even that other world through the Gate matched by time to home.

[He looks back up then, a shade of mingled hope and fear in his eyes. Edward has to have come though to this new world with him, he just...he can't be separated from him again, not after everything that he's gone through.] Is Brother here, too?

[Al has been here a few times before, so Envy recognizes his face and definitely recognizes his voice. He doesn't think much about the Elrics anymore; they're never the ones from his world and he's got other things to focus on now. But...he doesn't look the same as he usually does.]

[And what he'd said...]

Method to move between worlds?

[Is this really the one from his own version of Amestris? His insides twist with an anger that he hasn't felt in a while. Just seeing Alphonse is enough to set it off, and while he keeps his voice mostly steady, that anger makes it tense too. He also doesn't know when Alphonse is even from, so he keeps it to voice. He might not even be recognized.]

[His eyes go wide for a moment before narrowing. Oh, he recognizes that name alright.] She's not here too, is she?

[He manages to hide his relief for the most part, only letting out a slight breath of air at that.]

No, she's not. Never has been, either.

Truthfully, kid, no one knows why they're here. I've been here for some time now, though not as long as some of the others I've met and none of them have any explanation either.

[That voice. The face, so familiar despite being unfamiliar. It can't possibly be, and yet...

If she's wrong, she's wrong.]

Alphonse?

[Al, on the other hand, doesn't have much control over the anger that rises up hearing Envy's voice. Even without his face Al would recognize that voice anywhere, the voice that had mocked his brother, belittled him, and then...]

[Al snarls, his grip on the Gear tightening and his teeth clenching in fury.] What the hell are you doing here, Envy? You're DEAD!

[Al lets out a small breath of relief as well.] Good. I don't want to have to try and find a way to kill her again.

That's not really comforting... Uh, no offense, but it's not only...er, dead people that are brought here, right? [LOOK THIS IS A LEGITIMATE CONCERN, OKAY?? It's not like his canon just happens to have a high bodycount or anything...plz don't be insulted, Greed, he is actually happy to see you!]

Time is one of those strange, shifting things. From your perspective I may be dead, but not from my own. So no, this isn't the afterlife. This isn't the Gate.

Speaking of, that's the method of traveling between worlds you mentioned, isn't it?

[Greed already knows the answer. But just in case.]

Miss Lust?! You're here, too?

[Why is it that everyone that's dead because of Ed and Al is saying hello to him?!...oh man, please don't let Wrath show up now, he's not sure how to handle that.]
