[The feed comes on to a...rather embarrassed Alphonse, with a pile of eggs sitting on the bed behind him. His Glameow is sniffing at them curiously, while Vaporeon lays on the pillow completely uninterested.]

Um...well, this is a little awkward, but I woke up this morning to find a bunch of eggs in my room! I wasn't trying to do any breeding but...well, I guess they decided to anyway. [Al casts a glance offscreen, then looks back with an awkward shrug.] If anyone wants to buy some, let me know? Um, there's Eevee, Cyndaquil, Meowth, and a Purrloin egg...I'll attach a list with how many there are of each. Um, thanks in advance!

[And with that he quickly turns the feed off to be horribly embarrassed forever. The promised list is attached to the message, however!]

[ Her Meowstic mews in assent. Yes more cats please! All the cats! ]

[A fellow cat lover! Al grins and nods.] Sure, no problem! I'll send an egg right on over.

Oh, thank you so much! Chira will be so happy! What's your name, mister? I'm Mimi Tachikawa, and, well, I guess you know this already, but this is Chira! [ The Meowstic raises a paw in greeting and smiles. ]

Hehe, my name is Alphonse Elric! It's nice to meet you both! [Al cocks his head, taking a closer look at Chira.] What kind of Pokemon is Chira? I don't think I've seen that one around before.

It's very nice to meet you, Elric-san! [ Hmm... where has she heard that name before? Oh right! ] You wouldn't be related to the other Elric-san, would you? He gave me Kabo-chan! [ Mimi's Pumpkaboo pops her head into frame upon hearing her name. Pumpka, pump! ]

Hehe, I don't really know what kind of Pokémon she is! My PokéGear doesn't seem to have any information on her, or any of the the other Pokémon from last month. She fell out of the sky at the beginning of the month with a bunch of other cats, I can tell you that! My friends Gamzee-san and Tobias-san have their own too!

Mm-hmm, Edward's my big brother! [He's a little confused by the odd title, but it's probably something from her world's culture.] Ah, I got one of them too! I wasn't expecting it to start walking through walls, though... [Ah hah...hah...]

Oh, so that's what they evolve into? She looks really cool! [Wait, there was another bit in there that was important...] --oh, you know Gamzee, too?

Wow! You and your brother are both here? That's so lucky! No one I know from home is here. It must be really nice to have your brother with you, Elric-san! Or... maybe I should call you Alphonse-san? So I don't get you mixed up!

Yeah! She's been training really hard, and she finally evolved today! I'm so proud of her! [ Mimi cuddles Chira. ] And yeah, Gamzee-san and I are traveling together! So is Tobias-san, but maybe you don't know him! Are you and Gamzee-san friends?

Yeah, it really is! We also have another friend from home with us, and there are a few others. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones! [He chuckles and rubs the back of his neck.] You can just call me Al, actually, and Brother usually goes by Ed.

I haven't been training mine, since they didn't seem as interested as some of the others. Maybe I'll see if they want to start training again.

Yeah, I'm friends with him. I met him over the Network when he was...ah. Stuck to one of his Pokemon. [Siiiiigh. That kid.] He's kind of an odd duck, isn't he?

Al-san and Ed-san! I can remember that! [ Mimi smiles. ] And you can call me Mimi! [ But Mimi that's probably what he was going to call you anyway... ]

Wow, family and friends! That's so great, Al-san! I wish some of my friends would show up too! I miss all of them! I hope you hang out with your friends a whole lot while you're here, okay?

And it's okay if your Pokémon don't want to train! It's probably just because of their personalities, you know? Like, I trained my Momomi some, but she didn't really seem to be into it! She prefers drawing and stuff like that! And she's good at it, too! But I think Chira really likes battling!

Oh, right! Yeah, that was really weird! I'm still not sure why he did that! Probably those meanie ghosts of his had something to do with it. [ Mimi frowns. Stupid ghosts. ] Yeah, odd duck is a good way to put it! He's usually not quite that bad, though... I promise!

Hehe, I will! A lot of them, I know I won't ever be able to see back home again, so...being able to be with them here is really nice.

Yeah, I have a few that I know aren't interested in training at all, and they're happy just hanging around with me when we're not traveling. Those two just...well, I'm not sure if they were just getting into trouble or if they really do want to battle, you know?

They did seem overly pleased with something, not that you mention it...well, nothing really bad came of it, at least. [Al grins.] I believe you! He definitely has a unique way of looking at things, though.

You won't be able to see your friends at home? That's so sad! Why not? Did they move away or something?

[ She giggles. ] Yeah, Gamzee-san is pretty unique! I'm not really sure what he's talking about half the time! Did you know he used to be a troll? Maybe that has something to do with it! Oh, but not the kind of troll that eats goats, though! He was very clear about that!

Ah, it's...a little more complicated than that. [He doesn't really want to get into the whole 'everyone is dead because of me' debace.]

A troll? I guess that could explain his weird names for some things. [Then he chuckles.] Good to know those leafy goat Pokemon are safe from his appetite, though!

Yeah, about that. Leave them alone long enough and that's gonna happen.

[Al lets out a long sigh.] So I've gathered, but I didn't think they'd just...pop out the eggs overnight! Shouldn't there be a gestation period or something? They didn't look like they'd been carrying eggs...

It's a different sort of world. I just kind of roll with it, even when it doesn't make sense.

I'm trying to, but sometimes it's just so weird I have to wonder at it.

It's really not the weirdest thing I've been around.

...what sort of stuff have you seen, then?

Well, to start? Two of my best friends? One's a duck that's really great with magic and Goofy is...

You know what? I'm not sure what Goofy is. Point is, if you'd see them you'd know what silly really is.

[Al kind of has to laugh at that.] Magic? What sort of stuff could he do with that? I knew a woman back home that was part snake, but it didn't really show unless she was actively changing herself that way.

What sort of stuff can't you do with that?

[Denzel eye twitches.] Yes, I agree. That would be - awkward!

[There's a pause as he states in interest.] A Cyndaquil you say?

To say the least.

Uh-huh. I've got three eggs--do you want one?

That's a plain silly question - YES!

[That's when it dawns on Crocker.]

...Exactly how much are you selling these for, mmm?

Ah, I'd decided on 600 Pokedollars for the Cyndaquil eggs--unless that's too much?

That's... quite a few eggs.

[He thinks on this for a moment.] Their breeding process baffles me in how large a variety you receive.

I think it was two different pairs rather than just one, actually. I got a little booklet when I arrived detailing some of how Pokemon breeding works, and it said that while it's usually the mother's species that the eggs are, sometimes there are some of the father's.

Ah... I may have to look into this. [For knowledge sake. Because he can't understand this at all.]

Yeah, it's kind of confusing. There's a breeding center in Goldenrod that you can probably find information at, or I could transcribe the booklet and send it to you if you'd like?

I wouldn't want you to go through all the trouble! I'll see if I can find this centre for a copy. I don't think we're too far off from Goldenrod... Though it does look like it may take a month to get there. [He glances to the side, then just fondly sighs.]

[Al blinks in confusion for a moment before a lightbulb goes off and he laughs.] Your friend is getting distracted by the wildlife, I take it?

Man, at least you found them before they hatched.

I didn't realize my Pokemon had bred until my roomie discovered a backpack full of owls and was subsequently traumatized forever.

...how does that even happen? Did your Pokemon deliberately hide them there?

Yeah, uh... she kind of.... really likes bags.

In all fairness, I probably should have, uh... looked IN there more often...

Well, if you don't have a reason to think the contents of the bag have been messed with, why would you feel the need to rifle through your stuff all the time? At least now you both know for in the future, right?

Y-yeeeaah, that and I'm keeping her away from that crazy Hoothoot...

[Al cracks a grin and laughs.] Yeah, that would probably help, too. I know I'm gonna have to keep a closer eye on all of my team...

[He shoots a glance off screen, and a 'miauuuuu' can be heard.] Yes, I mean you, Cecil!

As you accumulate more and more, it's preeetty easy for it to get out of hand.

I'd imagine! But I'll do my best!

[Dude. Something about your face.... hm.

On the other hand, Pokemon breeding will never make sense to him.]

I wonder how they lay 'em so fast... How'd you miss it?

Well, I do sleep pretty deeply...and I don't think the process of laying the eggs themselves usually takes all that long in species back home. But then my village mostly raised sheep, so I could be wrong.

He grew up in a city - far away from anything even remotely resembling a farm. There was his friend's garden but that wasn't full of cows and chickens and whatever.]

Huh. ...I've never seen a chicken lay an egg either. What's it like raising sheep?

Well, my family didn't raise any ourselves, but plenty of our neighbors did. Since they mostly were raised for wool, they got to be a bit more like a bunch of pets would be than normal livestock. Sometimes they'd get out of the fenced area of the fields and all the kids would go out to help herd them back in, which was interesting when it was the rams that got out. They have a heck of a temper!

Spring was always really busy with shearing season--sometimes Brother and I went to help collect and bag the wool. Sheep are pretty hardy for a livestock breed, so they didn't get sick often, thankfully. And of course they had to make sure the sheep stayed safe from predators...it was hard work, but I always thought sheep were easier to raise than other sorts of livestock.

[There was something very gentle about this guy that Rin was starting to like. A lot of the explanation went right over Rin's head - he could barely tell the difference between a ram and a sheep and as far as he could tell, livestock was different depending on how they helped people.

Regardless, this gentle guy must not have been a pushover if he lived beside attacking rams and predators (like wolves in the stories, right?) Sheep sounded both dangerous and incredibly fun to be around. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to give farm life a chance - if it was ever offered to him.]

Wow~. So you probably fought off wolves with your brother too... How do you shave a sheep? And what if the rams got away? Did they ever come back?

We were too young back then to help with driving off the wolves, actually. And shaving them is mostly a matter of being able to keep them calm while the clipping is done. It takes a while, and if they get nervous they'll bite and kick pretty bad!

I don't remember any rams ever getting away, but herding them back was a real chore. You had to get enough people to herd them back in the right direction, and if you were lucky they might come back with the lure of a little treat. Usually the got out 'cause something got them mad, though, and let me tell you, you don't want to be in the path of a charging ram! Their heads are solid, and they hit hard!
