Just how common is all this stuff?

[Yeah, that's a very panicked Alphonse on the screen, with two Espurrs clinging very tightly to his head. Painfully tight, in fact, judging from that wince. And it looks like there are more huddling around Al--seriously, someone needs to find homes for them before he adopts every single damn one of them.]

At least the poor things don't seem to be hurt from it, but this is crazy! I heard about that storm with the Sharpedo, but this doesn't even make sense!

I don't think anyone would! I'm glad their landings don't end the way you'd expect them to, though. That would be a lot harder to deal with...

They bounce. It's a little alarming...

The residents have taken to laying mattresses out in the town, and at least their landings aren't so hard now.

No kidding. I have to wonder if these Pokemon are just that tough or if something else is causing that. Yeah, I've seen people putting some out around here, too. The Pokemon Centers have been going non-stop to get cushions of any kind out for them.

I believe that they're a psychic type? Or at least, that's what I heard one of the Nurse Joys say.

I hope this doesn't keep up for long. I don't want to wake up tomorrow to see yet more cats raining from the sky.

Huh. Maybe it's one of their powers cushioning them, then. It'd be a lot of work to do that, I'd think--maybe that's why they all look so shell-shocked beyond the fact they just fell out of the sky. Me either! I mean, I wouldn't mind seeing more cats around, but we don't need them to literally rain down on us.

That's very true-- I'll make sure to leave extra food out for them, they might need it.

Hehe, you could say that! I've wound up with one of each type of cat-like Pokemon I've come across one way or another--my Meowth just decided I was a good napping spot and stuck around after I had to get up and leave. Brother's gotten a little annoyed with it, but I'm happy to take care of them.

That's very cute. A team full of cats sounds cuddly, I can't think why your brother wouldn't like that.

No, he's not allergic. I think the problem is more that I sorta used to always try and find a way to take care of the stray cats we'd come across back home even though we were always traveling, and now I have the perfect excuse with the cats here--he's just annoyed on principle. And they're very cuddly! When they're all napping around me, I swear I start vibrating from all the purring.

I bet those little strays were very pleased that you showed them attention. Did you travel a lot?

I have to say, there's nothing much that's better than a pile of purring cats.

Yep! Almost all over our country, though we mostly stuck to the East since Brother's superior officer was stationed there. It was pretty cool to see so many different places and people, and we helped a lot fo people on our way. There really isn't! They're all so warm and soft, you don't even need a blanket if it isn't really cold out.

Were you in the military? You seem a little young...

I've not had so many as to not need a blanket, but I'll take your word for it.

Brother was. And really he just had an equivalent rank--the State Alchemists were connected to the military, but more of them were lab types than actual soldiers.

Alchemists..? Lead into gold, secret alchemist's stone, that kind of thing?

We can do a lot more than that, but yes. Making gold is illegal, and the Philosopher's Stone is...well, not a whole lot of people even believe it exists.

Alchemy is considered a science where I'm from, and it follows the natural laws. The idea of something that can allow you to create matter from nothing or perform a transmutation far beyond what anyone could normally accomplish? It's crazy, just old legends that took what normal alchemical catalysts can do and blew it up into this amazing thing.

Technically speaking, I could create a kind of matter from nothing, although that ability has been stripped from me here.

I am proficient in what we call kidou, and can - if certain conditions are met - call forth chains and platforms from thin air.

....kidou is essentially a type of magic, though.

That's still really cool, though! Do the platforms and everything stay permanently, or do they go away after a while?

They can - in theory - stay there as long as I want them to. But usually, I dismiss them as soon as I don't need them - they do cost energy to keep them there.
