1st Transmutation | [video] Introductions

[Al had taken some time fumbling around with the Gear once he got out of that odd town, testing the buttons and managing to reason his way into making a video post--though he doesn't realize that it is transmitting video yet. Alphonse comes onto the screen sitting at the base of a tree, and actually seems relatively calm about all this. It isn't the first time he's been tossed into a strange new world, though at least the last time he'd meant to go there. Anyone that knows him might notice he seems a bit...young, though.]

Okay, I think it's recording...um, hello! I just got here, and I've read that little book, so I know what we're supposed to be here for, but...does anyone have any information as to how we were transported here? The only method I know to move between worlds like this doesn't...really seem to apply here.

[It looks like he would continue, but his Shinx takes that moment to pounce into his lap and headbutt under his chin--gently, though, and clearly just wanting attention.] Ah, jeez! It's barely been five minutes, can't I pay attention to something else for that long? --um, sorry, my Pokémon is being kind of needy...are they always like this? I know we're supposed to battle them, but this little guy is so much like a little kitten I can't see him fighting anything except his own tail! [And really, he's kind of offended by that concept in general. It's so cruel!!] Um, anyway, if anyone has any information I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

[Al bites his lip to hold back a small chuckle, not wanting to hurt Lust's feelings.] That's a lot more than I expected! I mean, some of it I could assume, but that's quite a difference. I guess I'm lucky that losing my memories at first made adjusting a moot point.

Wait, you got drunk? You didn't have too bad of a hangover, did you?

There are dozens and dozens of tiny differences I never thought about before.

Funny. I always expected once I became human, I'd remember it.

Oh, it was fine. I was well looked after and taken care of.

[What is it with teenage boys worrying about her?]

Isn't that always how it goes? You get so focused on the one thing you want, and don't even think about all the little things that come with it. [Or, you know, the big things, like bringing a gigantic army to wreck up Central. Oops.]

Rememb--oh. ...maybe they'll come back eventually. I mean, it took me crossing the Gate again to remember my time in the armor.

That's good. I haven't been allowed to drink yet [grumblegrumble] but I've taken care of Brother after he's had too much the night before.

I just didn't fully understand what it meant to be biologically human. No, they likely won't. But it doesn't matter. I didn't have too much.

..well, as long as you're happy, that's what's the most important. [Al knows better than to push the subject of memories--if she doesn't want to be the woman that she was modeled after, that was her choice. And from what little he does know about her, he can't really blame her.]

I have the chance to be. That's what matters.

Happiness isn't so easily found as simply flipping some biological switch. But I'm sure you know that.

Heh...yeah, I do. So, what have you been doing since you arrived here?

I spent a few months settling in and adjusting to humanity. I...have family here, who took care of me.

I'm seeing the world with a close friend right now. We're traveling for a little while, just for the fun of it, before we buy a house in Goldrenrod.

[Al nods and smiles--no suspicions over here!] Oh, that's so cool! But are you gonna be able to afford that? Houses are kind of expensive, aren't they?

We're perfectly fine as far as money's concerned. We both have much more than we need. And we'd like somewhere for our Pokemon to live.

Mammon will be much happier when he has a saltwater pool to live in, I'm sure.

That makes sense to me. Let me know when you find a place, and I'll come by to visit!

Mammon? What Pokémon is that? [Obviously whatever it is, it's a Water-type...he thinks? It would have to be to live in the ocean, right? ~~Man, but the fauna is weird in this world.~~]

Now my guest list is two teenage boys. I really need more friends...

Mammon's a sharpedo. There was a terrible storm that flung them everywhere. Greed caught one for us each, right in the middle of the storm.

...I should probably mention that I'm buying a home with Greed.

[Al laughs at first, but then boggles a bit.] Flung them around? Just how strong was that storm?! That's not a common thing, is it?

Greed? [He's confused, but after a moment shrugs.] Well, I guess with Dante gone you don't have to be enemies anymore, huh?

[With the 'D' word dropped, it's time to take this to a private channel.]

Frighteningly strong. I've never seen anything like it. But no, it's not common. And worse for us as we were on the coast when it hit.

We were never personal enemies. We actually have a great deal in common and get on very well. We spent time together before we decided to travel.

Is she? Gone? Dead?

[Hey, it's not like Al knows how to lock these conversations yet!]

Okay. If this place had bad weather like that constantly, I'm not sure I'd want to be camping out int he open. [Since there's no decent train system around here, what the heck. Doesn't anyone know how to public transit?] But you were safe during the storm, right?

That's good to hear. I like him a lot too, even if he...well, kidnapped me. [Ladies and gentlemen, Alphonse Elric.]

Yeah, she is. I didn't see it myself, but I haven't seen any evidence of her around since Brother restored me. [He has his suspicions of what happened, but...well, he's gonna keep that to himself. He remembers Lust actually liking Gluttony.]

No, only sometimes. It's safe to camp, Greed and I are doing it currently while we're between cities.

He's a good man. We understand each other. And I like the way he lives.

Good.

How are you enjoying that? Camping out under the stars, I mean.

He's definitely a very unique person. It's good you both have someone you can relate to, here. [He knows he couldn't fill that role, not really. Even understanding as much as he does, he hasn't gone through what they have, and sympathy only goes so far.]

I'm just sorry she wasn't taken out sooner. She did so much damage to everyone... [Even Envy. Al can't help it, he pities the man for what he went through.] And if she ever does show up here somehow, I'll be the first to take her down again.

I like it. Especially in the forest, when it's dark and quiet.

Unique is one way to put it. We're lucky. We aren't alone here, and we know we have a chance to be happy.

I'm afraid you're going to have to stand in the line. I've already staked my claim in the turn of those particular events.

There's much less of the child in you these days, isn't there?

Mmm, yeah. Sitting by the fire after everything's settled for the night, listening to the calm of everything. I liked that, even when I was still in the armor.

You should have had that chance back home, too. But...at least nothing is holding you back here.

[He smiles a little ruefully.] I've been alone the past two years. I don't want to give anything the chance to take away the people I care about again.

The world is pretty, to travel through. We went to the beach one day. I'd never been before.

I had plenty of chances, I just didn't realize I needed to take them. What's done is done. It's like a book, the chapter's finished and on to the next one.

Being alone is a terrible thing. This is a nice place, though. Strange things happen sometimes, but it's a nice and good place. And you aren't alone anymore.

[Lust can sympathize. She hates the thought of being alone.]

Oh, one by the ocean? I've never been, I'll have to go there sometime! What was it like?

Mmm. So long as we don't forget the lessons we've learned, we can move forward to a better future.

[He blinks a few times, surprised by her sentiment, and rubs a few tears out of his eyes.] I...thank you, Miss Lust. I'm really grateful.

I swallowed more sea water than I ever wanted to, I got so sunburned I was in pain for days, and my Jigglypuff saved the most anxious man you've ever met from drowning. But I went in the ocean.

Or at least try our best to.

[Lust glances away from the 'gear, awkward as always with these kinds of things.]

It's simple fact. And you don't have to call me 'miss'. No one calls me 'miss'.

[Al grins and chuckles.] Sounds like it was a heck of an experience! One you would want to do again, or did you have enough of the sea?

[Then he frowns.] Why not? It's a term of respect, and you certainly deserve that.

I'd go to the beach again. And in the sea in a more stable floating device.

It just sounds strange. How old are you, anyway?

I'd like to come along next time you go, if we're in the same area. It sounds like a lot of fun, except for the sunburn part.

It's not weird, it's just being nice. [HMPH.] Oh, i'm seventeen now.
