1st Transmutation | [video] Introductions

[Al had taken some time fumbling around with the Gear once he got out of that odd town, testing the buttons and managing to reason his way into making a video post--though he doesn't realize that it is transmitting video yet. Alphonse comes onto the screen sitting at the base of a tree, and actually seems relatively calm about all this. It isn't the first time he's been tossed into a strange new world, though at least the last time he'd meant to go there. Anyone that knows him might notice he seems a bit...young, though.]

Okay, I think it's recording...um, hello! I just got here, and I've read that little book, so I know what we're supposed to be here for, but...does anyone have any information as to how we were transported here? The only method I know to move between worlds like this doesn't...really seem to apply here.

[It looks like he would continue, but his Shinx takes that moment to pounce into his lap and headbutt under his chin--gently, though, and clearly just wanting attention.] Ah, jeez! It's barely been five minutes, can't I pay attention to something else for that long? --um, sorry, my Pokémon is being kind of needy...are they always like this? I know we're supposed to battle them, but this little guy is so much like a little kitten I can't see him fighting anything except his own tail! [And really, he's kind of offended by that concept in general. It's so cruel!!] Um, anyway, if anyone has any information I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

Good! I'm tired of having to chase that dummy around. [It's nice for the world to not be conspiring against Elrics having a happy ending for once.]

[Of course, then Winry just trows him the biggest curveball ever, and he stares in utter confusion. That...they don't have parents. And Dante only ever made them call her 'Master' that I know of. [Unless there's something especially creepy that went on with Envy and LA LA LA HE DOES NOT WANT TO THINK ABOUT THAT LA LA LA]

Well, you're in luck because me and the dummy will fly to you instead of you having to chase him around. [It's been forever since they've both been here. She just... really wishes they'll stay... this time.

. . . Oh. Ohhhhhhh. There's the first time for everything, right? Right now there's the first time for seeing Al from that other version of Amestris.

Winry stays quiet for a moment.]

Al, please don't think I'm insane, but -- that's -- [LONG PAUSE HERE.] I don't even know how to explain this, but there's another Amestris, where they have another so called master, who calls himself Father. But he isn't their real father, I don't think. Ed can explain it all to you. Or Greed, I think Ed explained everything to Greed. Or they can both tell stuff to you, I don't know. [She sure can't tell much!!]

...Me and Ed are from there, but there are some from the Amestris, where Dante exists.

Fly out to me? Winry, just what sort of contraption did you build?!

[Al is quiet for a long moment, thinking it all over. Winry wouldn't lie to him, he knows that, and if that's what Brother said...he wouldn't have a reason to lie about that either. And besides, it's not like the idea of other worlds is foreign to him. He just...didn't expect one to be so similar and different at the same time, not like that.]

...I believe you, Winry. But I guess this means we have a lot more to catch up on, then! [He smiles at her--she's still his sister, no matter what world she's from. He just hopes Ed won't reject him for not being his.]

Huh? ... [Let her be puzzled for a little moment here.] Ah, no no. [flailing her hands a bit.] I didn't build anything, I trained many Pokemon, who can fly us anywhere.

[She lets him think about everything, that she just said. There's no rush, it is a lot to take in and Winry's been in the same kind of situation too.

When Al finally speaks and smiles, Winry smiles at him too.]

Mmhmm, but there's nothing but time to catch up here! I'm really glad you're here, and Ed will probably rush out of the door to get to you as soon as he sees this... [Winry on the other hand? She's packing while she speaks.]

Oh! They get big enough to carry you in flight? That's amazing! [It really is, and now Al's looking down at his Shinx with a curious look--just what is this little guy gonna turn into?]

[Winry's assurance helps a little, but given that Al was about ten times dumber in his world about The Barry Incident, Al's probably gonna keep worrying until Ed's spoken with Al himself.] Hehe, when isn't Brother rushing off at top speed to do anything? --he hasn't broken his automail recently, has he? [Winry, please tell Al he hasn't been his usual dumb self, he doesn't want to clean up several months worth of messes.]

Some of them are, yes, many dragons and birds for example. [She's raised a Shinx or two too, so she could tell what they become...]

Oh geez, so he's the same idiot everywhere. [That's still a nice way of talking about your boyfriend, Winry.] It's good that there's us two to stop him from doing that now, I'm not sure if his head can take much more stopping from just me. [She's kidding, but also kind of half-serious - except Ed's head is made of fullmetal steel maybe.] Actually, it might be a new record, he hasn't broken it and it's been safe from metal eating Pokemon too, so ... I guess I'd be too optimistic if I was going to say that I'm not expecting something to happen to it sooner or later. But so far he hasn't dared to break it here.

[... it helps that he only has the leg now, but she'll let Ed tell that to Al himself.]

Good! It's about time he learned to be responsible with it. It's not fair that you always have to--wait, did you say metal-eating Pokemon?

He could have learned sooner... ...Yeah, they're kinda like my worst enemy here.

[Al shudders a bit, not really able to keep the image of a bunch of mini-Gluttonies chasing after him out of his head.] I'm just glad I'm not all metal anymore to have to deal with that.

... Excellent point. Oh, even if you were from a time, when you were -- you'd be human here. Everyone becomes human here, there's some ponies walking around as humans too.

[...Winry, why do you keep blindsiding him like this?!] ...ponies.

[... sorry. Look, at least whenever you run into one, you can't say that no one warned you!]

...yeah, among other animals and ... others, who haven't been human before coming here. Sorry, it's all confusing at first, then you kind of just get used to the fact that things can be very random and weird here.

Well, it's not like we have much of a choice unless we wanna keep freaking out at things, right? I'll cope, it's just...a lot to keep in mind right now.

Where do you want to meet up? I'd like to go say hello to Scar; he said he's in Olivine. [Nope, no idea he just opened a can of worms right there.]

OKAY, QUICK, THINK OF A PLAN B THEN. She's totally going to cover up that freezing by starting to ramble like she's not nervous at all or like that really isn't a can of worms at all!! See, no problem with the sudden mention of the name Scar here, not at all!]

Ummm... In that case, let's forget the ferry! We can come to Goldenrod, it's the biggest city in Johto. It's a long way from there to Olivine and New Bark, but if you walk to Cherrygrove while we're on the way there to meet up with you, it would make things faster.

[Al frowns in concern when Winry pauses like that, and the quick babbling only confirms that...well, there's something going on at least.] Sure, I can do that, but...Winry, did something happen with Scar?

[one. BIG. sigh.] ...Not here, no, and apparently not in the Amestris where you come from either, but... Something happened where me and Ed come from, yeah. It's complicated.

[Al frowns in consternation, wondering just what could have happened between Winry and Scar of all people.] ...okay. If it's too much, I can figure out a way to meet up with Scar on my own time. I don't wanna hurt you with this...

[Winry shakes her head at that.] Don't worry about it. I needed to travel with him and some others back home too, it's a long story but it's okay, you're not hurting me. And we've had a lot of time to think that he's not from the same Amestris as us, so it's not like we're holding anything against him.

Ohh, speaking of traveling with him -- ummmm, I guess we could give him a ride from Goldenrod with us to meet up with you. I guess we should ask from him...

Okay. I just...he's a friend that's done a lot for me, and I want to make sure he's okay, you now?

Yeah, it's gonna take a bit to get this coordinated, huh? Sorry for causing the trouble.

[... a friend... that's weird to hear, but then again after everything what happens on the Promised Day too...]

Friends help each other, right? And family even more, so... I want to help you to make sure that he's okay then, it's not trouble at all.

Anyway, I have pokemon for traveling on land and for flying too, they'll be glad to help too. Makes them good to get something to do.

[Al gives her a grateful smile, sighing with relief.] Thanks, Winry. It means a lot to me.

What's it like flying on a Pokemon? How fast do they go, and how high?

[Anything for the boys, who mean the world to her!] I know, and you're welcome.

It's ... amazing, especially in summer and well, besides winter it's really great. There's so much to see and it's quite a relaxing experience with trustworthy pokemon. The speed? Depends on how much flying experience they have, and on the weather too, of course. A day of walking is about 2 hours with fast fliers, and 3 or more with the slower ones. And they go very high, but not too high so it's still nice for the human all the way. At least mine don't go too high...

I can let you try flying on my favorite bird as soon as possible!

[Al's eyes light up as Winry explains, and his grin grows much wider. What a great way to travel!] Oh wow, that sounds really fun! I can't wait to try!

Would you? I mean, if they'll let me on; it sounds like that takes a lot of trust on their part, too.
