1st Transmutation | [video] Introductions

[Al had taken some time fumbling around with the Gear once he got out of that odd town, testing the buttons and managing to reason his way into making a video post--though he doesn't realize that it is transmitting video yet. Alphonse comes onto the screen sitting at the base of a tree, and actually seems relatively calm about all this. It isn't the first time he's been tossed into a strange new world, though at least the last time he'd meant to go there. Anyone that knows him might notice he seems a bit...young, though.]

Okay, I think it's recording...um, hello! I just got here, and I've read that little book, so I know what we're supposed to be here for, but...does anyone have any information as to how we were transported here? The only method I know to move between worlds like this doesn't...really seem to apply here.

[It looks like he would continue, but his Shinx takes that moment to pounce into his lap and headbutt under his chin--gently, though, and clearly just wanting attention.] Ah, jeez! It's barely been five minutes, can't I pay attention to something else for that long? --um, sorry, my Pokémon is being kind of needy...are they always like this? I know we're supposed to battle them, but this little guy is so much like a little kitten I can't see him fighting anything except his own tail! [And really, he's kind of offended by that concept in general. It's so cruel!!] Um, anyway, if anyone has any information I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

[Al laughs softly; that's the understatement of the century, Greed.] Really? I couldn't tell.

You can always find out. Family is more than just blood, and nothing is holding you back from just living here, right?

[That's what he's here for. Ridiculous understatement and speeches about all the material things he wants that may or may not be entirely bullshit.]

I have family here that isn't blood. But I'll never be able to understand a blood family. It's just not something that's possible.

Still, the two of you have each other.

[And he's certain that Ed will accept Al, even if they're from two different worlds. He certainly seemed to accept Greed of all people.]

...I suppose. I don't think it should make a difference if you're related or not, but I know it does to some people. And it does make for a different relationship in some ways.

...yeah. That's all we wanted, to just be able to live and have a normal life together.

He's here, you know. Edward.

But he's different from the one you know. It's hard to explain.

He remembers a different set of events than us.

He doesn't... doesn't remember killing me. [It's said in a strained way. He thought he would be fine knowing what happened to him, he'd accepted his fate as someone who needed to die to teach Edward what to do, but...] For him, it was your country's leader who attacked my bar.

Bradley? Why would he have... [For the Fuhrer to have gone after Greed personally, things must be very, very different over there.] How much does line up between our worlds, other than names?

[Greed had definitely had a personal grudge against Pride, but as far as Pride had been aware until Greed broke out, the older homunculus was sealed away and not a threat to anyone.

He'd been at South Headquarters, apparently, but something about the situation had struck him as strange.]

Places are the same and most of the people remain the same.

....some of the homunculi are different as well. Pride goes by Wrath there; Pride is someone else entirely.

[...and then added softly, like he isn't sure he should be saying this:] Sloth is different too.

Dante doesn't exist. The alchemy there is built on difference principles. Some people apparently have different personalities as well.

[Mention of Sloth made Al go white, and he swallowed as he listened to Greed. So in that Amestris, they'd never had to...]

...they got lucky, then. I don't think anything could be worse than dealing with Dante.

He called himself "Father" and took on the appearance of yours. That's all I know for certain.

He--he looked like Dad? Is he a twin over there or something?

[But then Greed did say their homunculii were different, maybe this Father person looked that way for a reason other than birth.]

[...ugh, that's an even creepier thought.] I'll have to ask them about all this. I know Brother will want to pick my head about stuff from our world.

--b-but I won't reveal anything you want secret! I mean, I don't really know all that much personal about you specifically, but--!

No, he's not a twin, he's--

[But Greed stops himself because he's not sure what Father is. A homunculus, certainly, but why he would specifically look like Hohenheim he doesn't know.]

Ed would be able to tell you better than me.

I had to explain a few things to him when he first arrived here. He already knows the important secrets.

[Well, not the whole "in love with the leader of the homunculi" thing but uh

he's not exactly telling anyone that.]

I'll just have to keep hold of my curiosity until then, I guess.

Oh, where exactly are you right now? I know Mi--that Lust said she was traveling with you.

I'm sure he'd be willing to tell you what he can. Our worlds are... rather different, as I'm sure you'll learn.

I'm in Kanto. It's the next region over. You can take a ferry from New Bark Town to get here. Or you could take the train, but that's pretty expensive. You get used to traveling here after a while.

[Or you don't and then complain to Greed about it. Please don't complain to Greed about it, Al.]

[Why would he ever?]

I'm used to traveling back home, so I'm sure it won't be too hard for me. I'll try to head out that way sometime soon!

[Because people have complained to him before! You never know.]

It's nice out here, but bring repellant for when you get to Viridian Forest, otherwise you're going to end up with bug Pokemon interested in you every other step.

Hehe, I will! ...um, how big do they get? [He took a quick perusal through the Pokedex, but he really doesn't want to believe that there are three foot tall bees that actually exist.]

They can get pretty big.

Cedric's fully evolved and he's something like... eight feet tall, I think. But I didn't see any of his evolved form in Ilex Forest.

Eight feet?!

He's friendly! And isn't creepy looking or anything.

That's still scary...but you said the wild ones weren't that big?

[Maybe he won't be eaten in the middle of the night by a horrendously huge mantis thing...]

Beedrills are assholes but I've never actually seen one? I've just seen their unevolved forms in forests. They're called Weedles and they're kind of cute.

Huh. Maybe they only have the chance to get that big by pairing up with a human?

[Not that that makes a whole lot of sense, but then domestication wouldn't be a thing if animals didn't find an advantage in being with humans.]

Maybe. Either that or they're just well hidden. They really only show up in tall grass. It's kind of strange.
